The Djerba International Women and Youth Film Festival (DIWYFF) – Tunisia, formerly the Medenine International Film Festival, is a dynamic cinematic platform rooted in the cultural richness of Djerba. Positioned at the crossroads of history, identity, and artistic expression, the festival places a strong spotlight on women and youth in cinema, celebrating voices that are shaping the present and redefining the future of storytelling.
Emerging from a country that has long played a pioneering role in the Arab world in advancing human rights, women’s empowerment, and cultural openness, DIWYFF reflects Tunisia’s progressive legacy, where cinema becomes both a mirror and a catalyst for social dialogue, freedom of expression, and creative resistance.

The festival features two core competition sections:
National Competition, dedicated to Tunisian films, nurturing local talent and authentic narratives.
International Competition, welcoming filmmakers from around the world, fostering cross-cultural exchange and global perspectives.
A special Children’s Cinema section further emphasizes the festival’s commitment to youth, highlighting films that inspire imagination, critical thinking, and emotional connection for younger audiences.

More than a festival, DIWYFF is a platform for empowerment and collaboration. It supports:
The development of women-led and youth-driven film projects
Professional training programs and workshops
The promotion of documentary and socially engaged cinema
The preservation and transmission of Tunisian cultural memory

With submissions managed in collaboration with Beirut Film Society, DIWYFF stands as a bridge between regions, generations, and perspectives, affirming Tunisia’s role as a beacon of creativity, dialogue, and human-centered cinema.
DIWYFF is not just a festival. It is a movement—where women lead, youth rise, and stories transform; It serves as a beacon for emerging talents and established filmmakers alike, creating an inclusive space for innovation, creativity, and the celebration of the art of film. Join us in this cultural celebration, where the magic of cinema brings people together and bridges diverse perspectives.
